Jewelry Design

Design process is driven by the incredible variety of colorful gemstones that come from the earth, the traditional jewelry-making techniques originating with the first American jewelry designers, and current fashion trends and color combinations that are carefully researched and developed by the new product team. Trend services and other fashion resources are observed and analyzed in order to create a picture of consumer tastes for the next season. This, in conjunction with Carolyn's own innate sense of what's happening next, serves to create unique jewelry collections designed to fit consumer's current wardrobes and lifestyles. Once this information is compiled from a variety of national and international sources, Carolyn Pollack and her design team create "trend boards", including fabric patterns, textures, Pantone color chips, sketches, and stone samples.

The next step is finding the perfect natural gemstones that embody the color and style that has been so meticulously researched - not always a simple process. Genuine gemstones are sourced from around the world and go through a strict quality control process once they are in-house. Carolyn Pollack is naturally drawn to gemstones that work into the color stories and gemstone trends the design team has been immersed in during the design process. Amid the endless piles of rough material, cut cabochons and beads, certain gemstones seem to resonate and lend themselves to these new designs. Her knack for unusual color and gemstone combinations has allowed her unique jewelry designs to become collector's items for many of her devotees.

Finally, all of Carolyn's designs have a touch of the American Southwest, where she calls home. Whether it’s the inspiration for a particular combination of colors, or a certain design element, she takes the inspiration from the beautiful country that surrounds her each day. A contemporary twist is always in order, but the desert landscape that holds her heart is a major influence on this modern jewelry designer. Carolyn often incorporates traditional design elements such as Rodeo Romance's embossed floral designs reminiscent of leather tooling, and the rich tapestry of color and technique in the Inlaid Treasures collection.
